The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has issued a fervent appeal to the federal government, demanding immediate measures to address the persistent cash scarcity plaguing the nation.

This call was articulated in a communique jointly signed by NLC President Mr. Joe Ajaero and General Secretary Mr. Emmanuel Ugboaja, following a National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held in Owerri.

The NLC expressed grave concerns over the ongoing cash shortage, which they described as an "unfortunate and exploitative burden" on the already struggling populace.

According to the communique, Nigerians are being compelled to forfeit five percent of their funds each time they access cash, a situation that Mr. Ajaero labeled as "unacceptable."

"The impact of this on small businesses and other informal economy operatives is huge," Mr. Ajaero stated.
