The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a weather forecast predicting a mix of dust haze and sunshine across Nigeria from Saturday to Monday. T
his weather pattern is expected to affect various regions differently, with specific advisories for residents and travelers.
In the northern region, NiMet anticipates a transition from slight dust haze on Saturday to moderate dust haze by Monday.
The agency warns that "horizontal visibility may reduce to between one and three kilometers, with localized visibility potentially dropping to less than or equal to 1,000 meters."
This could impact travel and outdoor activities, particularly for those with respiratory conditions.
The North-Central region will experience consistent slight dust haze throughout the forecast period. NiMet advises individuals in this area to remain cautious, especially those with asthma or other respiratory issues.
In contrast, the southern region will enjoy sunny skies with occasional cloud patches. However, morning mists are expected over parts of Lagos and Ogun states.
Additionally, isolated thunderstorms with light rains are predicted in the afternoons and evenings over Lagos, Ondo, Delta, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom states.
NiMet suggests that "residents should prepare for potential disruptions due to these weather conditions."
Given these forecasts, NiMet urges the public to adhere to safety advisories issued by relevant authorities.
The agency also recommends that airline operators obtain airport-specific weather reports to ensure effective planning and minimize disruptions.
