Nigerians Now Seeks VDM's Help Instead of Government – Skales Expresses Concerns

Nigeria in recent times has witnessed a major shift in the way its citizens seek justice and assistance, as highlighted by Nigerian singer Raoul John Njeng-Njeng, popularly known as Skales.

On December 11, 2024, Skales expressed his concerns over the growing trend of Nigerians turning to social media influencers like VeryDarkMan (VDM) for help instead of relying on government institutions. This phenomenon shows a broader issue of dwindling trust in the country's governmental and judicial systems.

Skales took to his X handle to voice his dismay, stating, "It’s crazy what is going on in Nigeria … imagine where the citizens cannot run to the government but to a fellow citizen like VDM for help ….smh!! God bless & protect him tho." His comments reflect a sentiment shared by many Nigerians who feel let down by the traditional avenues of justice and governance.

Martins Vincent Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, has emerged as a prominent figure in this landscape. He gained notoriety in 2023 when he called out a skincare manufacturer for not properly registering her products with Nigeria’s food and drug agency.

Since then, VDM has used his online platforms to challenge manufacturers operating without approvals and to amplify the voices of those seeking justice. Despite his contentious methods, which often involve sensationalism and accusations without substantial proof, VDM has garnered a massive following, resonating with many Nigerians who see him as a champion for the voiceless.
