Nigerian Troops Crush Bandit Strongholds in Taraba and Benue, Recover Arms

Nigerian troops have successfully dismantled several bandit camps under the ongoing military initiative known as "Operation Golden Peace."

The operation, executed by the gallant troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), marks a victory in the fight against banditry.

The troops launched a meticulously coordinated clearance operation targeting the general areas of Akahagu and China villages in the Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State.

The operation extended to Ikayor village, where the troops engaged bandits at a camp linked to the notorious criminal Akiki Utiv, also known as “Full Fire.”

Captain Olubodunde, Acting Assistant Director of 6 Brigade Army Public Relations, disclosed in a statement that during the encounter, "the troops applied overwhelming firepower, forcing the bandits to abandon their positions and flee in disarray."

The aftermath of the engagement saw the recovery of a red Toyota Corolla vehicle, a motorcycle, military camouflage trousers, a Beretta pistol with one round of 9mm ammunition, and other items from an abandoned vehicle.

Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of the 6 Brigade, commended the troops for their bravery and resilience. He assured the residents of Taraba and Benue States that the military remains resolute in its mission to maintain peace and security in the region.

"We urge members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to support the efforts of the security agencies," he stated.
