Nigerian Troops Crackdown on Oil Thieves, Recover Over 80,000 Litres of Stolen Crude

The 6 Division of the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with other security agencies, has achieved milestones.

The operations, which have been ongoing, resulted in the dismantling of 34 illegal oil refining sites and the apprehension of 11 suspects involved in these illicit activities.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Danjuma Jonah Danjuma, Acting Deputy Director of 6 Division Army Public Relations, "Troops have continued their onslaught against oil thieves, recovering over 80,650 litres of stolen crude."

These operations were conducted across various locations, including Buguma Creeks in Asari-Toru LGA, Iyalama/Bakana, and Ogaji-Ama, among others.

The troops' efforts also led to the destruction of 180 cooking drum pots and 29 metal container receivers, as well as the seizure of numerous vehicles and motorcycles used by the criminals.

In one notable encounter at Oboburu in ONELGA, troops neutralized an armed vandal who opened fire on them, recovering a pump action gun and cartridges at the scene.

Major General Jamal Abdussalam, the General Officer Commanding the 6 Division, commended the troops for their resilience and dedication. He assured that the division would "continue to sustain the ongoing operations to ensure an increase in oil and gas production," while thwarting the intentions of criminal elements operating in the region.
