Nigerian Navy Deactivates Illegal Oil Operations in Bayelsa [PHOTOS]

The Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) SOROH has intensified its efforts to combat oil theft in Bayelsa State, successfully deactivating an illegal oil insertion point and seizing equipment used in the illicit trade.

This operation is part of a broader initiative to enhance maritime security and protect valuable resources in the region.

On December 5, NNS SOROH personnel discovered and dismantled an illegal insertion point within the Igbomatoru axis.

The operation led to the seizure of six wooden canoes, a generator, cables, and pipes.

A statement released on the Navy's verified Facebook page highlighted the significance of this action, stating, "The deactivation of these facilities is a crucial step in disrupting the operations of oil thieves who exploit our natural resources."

The following day, December 6, the Navy's patrol team intercepted two wooden boats in the Kongo axis, which were found to be transporting numerous sacks of illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil (AGO).

This interception underscores the Navy's commitment to curbing illegal refining activities that pose environmental and economic threats.

Further demonstrating their resolve, on December 12, NNS SOROH personnel confiscated two additional canoes laden with stolen crude oil and a metal drum in the Igbomatoru community.
