The Nigerian military on Sunday achieved a major victory against terrorism in Zamfara State. Troops from the Joint Task Force North West, under Operation Fansan Yamma, successfully neutralized numerous bandits in Yar Galadima village, located in the Maru Local Government Area.
This operation was initiated following a distress call from local residents and vigilantes at around 5 a.m., alerting the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Hanutara to an ongoing terrorist attack.
According to Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, the Coordinator of the Joint Media Coordination Centre, the troops encountered two separate ambushes set by the terrorists as they advanced towards the village.
Demonstrating resilience and tactical superiority, the troops cleared these ambush sites, resulting in the neutralization of several attackers, while others fled with gunshot injuries.
The Air Component of Operation Fansan Yamma provided critical close air support, targeting the fleeing terrorists and ensuring no safe escape.
This decisive action not only restored peace to the area but also reaffirmed the Joint Task Force's commitment to eradicating terrorist threats across the North West region, including Niger State.
