Nigerian Lazio Midfielder Dele-Bashiru Involved in Car Accident

Nigerian international and Lazio midfielder, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, was involved in a car accident over the weekend. The incident occurred in the Italian capital, Rome, as reported by Il Messaggero newspaper.

Dele-Bashiru, who is currently on loan from Turkish club Hatayspor, was driving his Lamborghini when the accident took place on Saturday evening.

Fortunately, the 23-year-old footballer emerged unscathed from the mishap. His teammate, Tijjani Noslin, was reportedly the first to arrive at the scene, having witnessed the incident unfold.

Despite the accident, Dele-Bashiru remains fit and has been included in the squad for Lazio's Serie A match against Inter Milan, scheduled to kick off at 19:45 GMT at the Stadio Olimpico. Coach Marco Baroni confirmed his inclusion in the team earlier today, dispelling any doubts about the player's fitness following the accident.

The midfielder's involvement in the accident comes shortly after his impressive performance in the UEFA Europa League, where he scored a goal in Lazio's 3-1 victory over Ajax on December 12, 2024. This marked his third goal of the season in 12 competitive appearances for the Biancocelesti, alongside two assists.

Dele-Bashiru's contributions have been pivotal in keeping Lazio at the top of the Europa League table. As a key player for both club and country, his well-being is of significant interest to fans and stakeholders alike.

In light of the accident, Dele-Bashiru has received support from various quarters, including former teammates and fans. His wife, Maryiam, who was involved in a separate serious car accident in Nigeria, continues to recover from severe injuries sustained during that incident.
