Nigerian Govt Gives Fresh Update on Port Harcourt Refinery

The Port Harcourt Refinery has resumed full-scale operations following an extensive rehabilitation process.

This update was provided by the refinery's Managing Director, Ibrahim Onoja, who shared insights during a facility tour on Sunday night. "The refining plant has undergone extensive upgrades to enhance efficiency and reliability," Onoja stated, emphasizing that most of the equipment, including pump installations and cables, were replaced.

The refinery is now actively distributing petroleum products such as premium motor spirit, kerosene, and diesel.

This operational milestone comes just six days after the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) announced the commencement of crude oil processing at the facility. However, this announcement has not been without its share of controversy.

Some critics have questioned the viability of the plant, suggesting that the refinery might be distributing old stock.

The NNPCL has firmly dismissed these claims, asserting that the products being trucked out are indeed fresh.
