Nigerian Born, UK Bodybuilder Samson Dauda Wins Mr. Olympia Title

Nigerian-born bodybuilder Samson Dauda has etched his name in history by winning the prestigious 2024 Mr. Olympia competition.


This victory marks him as the first bodybuilder of Nigerian descent to claim this coveted title. The event, which celebrated its 60th edition, took place on October 12 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Nevada, USA.


Dauda, representing the United Kingdom, emerged victorious among 17 formidable competitors, including two former champions. Hadi Choopan from Iran secured the runner-up position, while Derek Lunsford from the USA, the 2023 champion, finished third.


Another notable Nigerian competitor, Andrew Jacked, achieved an impressive fifth-place finish.


Reflecting on his monumental win, Dauda expressed, "This victory is not just for me but for every aspiring bodybuilder from Nigeria and beyond. It shows that with dedication and hard work, anything is possible."


As the winner, Dauda was awarded a substantial cash prize of $600,000, along with a championship belt and trophy.
