Nigerian troops have successfully neutralized eight notorious terrorists and rescued several abducted victims. The operations, which took place across Borno, Yobe, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja, underscore the Nigerian Army's relentless commitment to combating insurgency and ensuring the safety of civilians.

On September 22, 2024, troops stationed in Borno State thwarted an attempt by terrorists to raid villages for supplies and logistics. After an intense firefight, three assailants were killed. The troops recovered a significant cache of weapons, including one light machine gun, one AK-47 rifle, two hand grenades, five AK-47 rifle magazines, and 200 linked rounds of light machine gun ammunition. Additionally, they seized Fifteen Thousand Naira (N15,000) and a Techno phone from the scene.

In another operation in Gwoza Local Government Area, troops acted on credible information and cornered terrorists escorting abducted victims through Uvaha village. Despite heavy rainfall, the troops engaged the terrorists, eliminating one and forcing the others to flee, leaving behind 16 hostages. Among the freed victims were ten men and six women. A follow-up search of the area uncovered two grenades, a bag of fish, and other sundry items.

Meanwhile, in Yobe State, a well-planned ambush led to the neutralization of four terrorists in the Mazda and Azare villages of the Gujba Local Government Area. The soldiers captured two AK-47 rifles and two empty AK-47 rifle magazines, along with other items.

In the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja, troops, in collaboration with other security agencies, arrested a terrorist collaborator who specialized in supplying arms and ammunition. The suspect was apprehended during a stop-and-search operation in the Kugbo general area. A search of the suspect revealed 178 rounds of 7.62 mm (Special) ammunition concealed in a bag of flour, a mobile phone, and Twenty Nine Thousand Naira (N29,000.00).
