Afrobeats singer Michael Adebayo Olayinka, popularly known as Ruger, has voiced his concerns about the current state of the Nigerian music industry.
In a candid expression shared on his X handle, Ruger lamented the rise of untalented artists who gain popularity primarily through extensive promotion rather than musical prowess.
He stated, "The music scene has been hurting me coz no matter how shit an artist is, once there’s money for hype, Otilo."
Ruger also criticized the prevalent use of autotune during live performances, suggesting that some artists rely too heavily on this technology.
He advised, "Now, let’s talk about the gaddamn autotunes on the mic when y’all perform. Next time, tell your engineer to shut it down when you’re about to speak coz you be speaking in Tunez wahalaaaaaa. Well, Ruger don’t need that shit. thank you."
