NDLEA Seizes N3.3 Billion Worth of Meth and Loud in Auto Parts from Canada [PHOTOS]

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) of Nigeria has intercepted shipments of methamphetamine and Loud, a potent synthetic strain of cannabis, valued at over N3.3 billion.

These illicit drugs were cleverly concealed within automobile spare parts imported from Canada and seized at Lagos's Tincan Seaport.

The operation, which shows the NDLEA's robust intelligence and tracking capabilities, was the culmination of months of meticulous surveillance across three continents.

According to Femi Babafemi, Director of Media & Advocacy at NDLEA Headquarters, "The first container, containing 5.001 kilograms of methamphetamine, came under NDLEA surveillance on 4th October, when preparations for the shipment began in Toronto, Canada."

The agency's operatives, in collaboration with Customs officials and other security agencies, conducted joint examinations of the shipments. This led to the discovery of two consignments: one with 83.301 kilograms of methamphetamine and another with 867.5 kilograms of Loud.

The drugs were intended for distribution during the festive season, targeting warehouses in the Ladipo automobile parts market in Lagos.

Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, commended the officers involved, stating, "These operational successes demonstrate the Agency’s capacity and intelligence network to track drug barons and their consignments even before they reach Nigeria."

He further warned that drug traffickers would continue to face significant losses if they do not abandon their illicit trade.
