NDLEA Moves to New Headquarters in Abuja[PHOTOS]

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has officially relocated its headquarters to a new facility in the Jahi area of Abuja.

This significant move was announced by Femi Babafemi, the director of media and advocacy at NDLEA, during an interdenominational service held on Wednesday, November 26.

The relocation marks the completion of the first phase of the agency's headquarters project, with full completion expected under the 2025 budget.

Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, highlighted the importance of this development, stating, "This is not 100% completed but it is sufficiently functional for us to move in.

I was determined to move in before the end of 2024 because with the expansion of the Agency, the headquarters also expanded."

The new headquarters is part of a broader effort to transform NDLEA into a modern and efficient anti-narcotic agency.

Marwa noted that the previous head office in Gimbiya, Garki will continue to serve as an annex, allowing for better consolidation of operations.

He expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support, saying, "The support we are getting from our international partners and local stakeholders, especially President Bola Tinubu, the National Assembly, the Judiciary, and the citizenry, is not just to appreciate our efforts but to encourage us to do more."

Secretary to the Agency, Shadrach Haruna, praised Marwa's leadership, which has seen the agency's staff strength triple from 5,000 to 15,000 since 2021.

Haruna remarked, "The commissioning of our headquarters today is part of the incremental but well-laid agenda for the repositioning of the Agency by the chairman."
