Nasarawa Speaker Calls for Urgent Renovation of Assembly Complex Amid Hunger Crisis

Governor Sule has been asked to look into the issue to improve the assembly's productivity in passing bills.

The Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Danladi Jatau, has urged Governor Abdullahi Sule to prioritise the renovation of the assembly facilities which have not been fully renovated since 2012.

The appeal was made during a tour of the Lafia complex on Wednesday.

Jatau expressed concern over the dilapidated state of the building, stressing that most of the offices are no longer convenient for MPs and staff. He stressed that functional workspaces are essential for effective legislative activity, saying, "A strong and robust legislature requires an enabling environment."

The speakers highlighted the difficulties faced by members and staff of the Legislature due to faulty facilities, such as broken air conditioners and other non-functioning appliances.

As expected, almost all the offices are unfit for honorary members and employees," he said.

Jatau appealed to Governor Sule to address the issue to improve the productivity of the assembly.

Despite the challenges, he acknowledged the governor's commitment to the welfare of his members and staff and assured the House of Representatives of continued support to the governor's administration.

We will focus on his outstandingness by repairing this room and repairing effective legislation, "he added and emphasized the need for immediate action.
