NANS Urges Tinubu to Tackle Economic Crisis

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has highlighted the severe economic challenges currently plaguing Nigeria, with hunger and poverty at the forefront.

The student body has called for immediate government intervention to alleviate the hardships faced by millions of Nigerians.

The NANS Clerk of the Senate, Abdulyekinn Odunayo, expressed deep concern over the current administration's policies, particularly the removal of fuel subsidies and the floating of the national currency.

These measures, according to Odunayo, have exacerbated economic deprivation, leading to increased living costs and widespread hunger.

"The dual swords of Damocles of fuel subsidy removal and float of naira have stabbed Nigerians in their hearts," he stated, emphasizing the dire situation many families face, struggling to afford even a single meal per day.

While acknowledging some benefits from the student loan program initiated by Tinubu's administration, NANS insists on the necessity for comprehensive economic reforms.

The association urges the government to implement relief measures that span short, medium, and long-term strategies to provide sustainable solutions to the nation's economic woes. "There is an urgent need by the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to put measures in place to arrest hunger, poverty, impoverishment going on in the country," Odunayo added.
