The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has announced a critical recall of a specific batch of Deekins Amoxycillin 500mg Capsules.
This action comes in response to reports of severe adverse reactions linked to the affected batch, identified as lot number 4C639001.
Manufactured by Ecomed Pharma Ltd and distributed by Devine Kings Pharmaceutical Ltd, the recalled batch has raised safety concerns.
NAFDAC has urged distributors, healthcare providers, and patients to exercise caution. "We are calling on all stakeholders to immediately cease the distribution and use of this batch," stated a NAFDAC spokesperson.
"Any stock should be returned to the nearest NAFDAC office without delay."
Amoxicillin, a widely used penicillin antibiotic, is typically prescribed for treating bacterial infections. However, the reported adverse reactions have prompted this urgent recall to safeguard public health.
NAFDAC emphasizes the importance of vigilance in monitoring drug safety and encourages healthcare professionals and consumers to report any suspicions of substandard or counterfeit medications.
