The ongoing feud between Megan Thee Stallion and Nicki Minaj has captivated the rap community, with both artists exchanging barbs through their music and social media.
The tension between the two rappers reportedly began in 2018, but it wasn't until January 2021 that Minaj unfollowed Megan on Instagram, marking a thrilling turning point in their relationship.
In an interview, Megan expressed her confusion about the root of their conflict, stating, "I still to this day don't know what the problem is. I don't even know what could be reconciled because I, to this day, don't know what the problem is."
This sentiment signifies the perplexing nature of their feud, which has been fueled by various incidents and accusations over the years.
One of the key moments in their rivalry occurred when Megan collaborated with Cardi B on the viral hit "WAP" in 2020. Given Minaj's long-standing feud with Cardi B, fans speculated that this collaboration might have strained Megan's relationship with Minaj.
However, Megan denied that the collaboration had any impact on their relationship, despite both rappers unfollowing each other on Instagram shortly thereafter.
The feud escalated further in January 2024 when Megan released her single "HISS," which contained multiple innuendos directed at various individuals, including Minaj.
One particular lyric caught Minaj's attention: "These hoes don’t be mad at Megan, these hoes mad at Megan’s Law." This line was interpreted as a dig at Minaj's husband, Kenneth Petty, who is a registered sex offender.
The reference to Megan’s Law, a federal law requiring law enforcement to make information available about registered sex offenders, sparked a major reaction from Minaj.
Minaj responded swiftly with her own diss track, "Big Foot," released on January 29, 2024. In the song, Minaj accused Megan of lying about various aspects of her life, including the shooting incident involving Tory Lanez.
Minaj rapped, "Bad bitch, she like 6 foot, I call her Big Foot, the bitch fell off, I said get up on your good foot," and later criticized Megan for allegedly using the shooting incident to gain sympathy.
Despite the heated exchanges, Megan has maintained that she does not understand the basis of their feud. She reiterated this during an appearance on "The Breakfast Club," where she stated, "I'm saying, a hit dog gon’ holler. That’s it. Whoever feel it, feel it."
