Man United Identify 6 Untouchable Players They Can’t Sell [See List]

As Manchester United navigates a challenging season, the club has made major decisions regarding its squad ahead of the January transfer window. With the team currently languishing in 13th place in the Premier League, a major overhaul is on the horizon.

The recent appointment of Ruben Amorim as head coach, following the dismissal of Erik ten Hag, marks a pivotal moment for the club. Amorim, who took over last month, is tasked with revitalizing a squad that has underperformed and faces financial constraints.

According to reports from Sky Sports’ Florian Plettenberg, Manchester United has identified six players as "untouchable," meaning they are not for sale despite the club's need to generate funds through player sales.

These players are Amad Diallo, Kobbie Mainoo, Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui, Leny Yoro, and Andre Onana. This decision comes as the club prepares for a limited rebuild, with Amorim expected to sell some players to finance new acquisitions.

The Telegraph, via Sport Bible, suggests that Amorim might only be allowed a restricted rebuild at Old Trafford, necessitating the sale of certain players to raise capital for new signings. This strategy aligns with the club's efforts to comply with PSR (Profitability and Sustainability Regulations) rules, which require careful financial management.

Amad Diallo, one of the untouchable players, has been described by former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves as "undroppable" following a recent defeat to Nottingham Forest. Diallo's performances have made him a key figure in Amorim's plans, highlighting his importance to the team's future.

Kobbie Mainoo, another player deemed unsellable, has been praised by former Liverpool midfielder Didi Hamann, who believes Mainoo has the potential to become one of the best midfielders in England. Mainoo's development is seen as crucial to Manchester United's long-term success, making him an integral part of the squad.

Matthijs de Ligt, Noussair Mazraoui, and Leny Yoro are recent arrivals at Old Trafford, having joined the club this summer. Their inclusion in the list of untouchable players signifies their value to the team's defensive structure and future ambitions.

Andre Onana, the club's goalkeeper, completes the list of players Manchester United is unwilling to part with. His presence between the posts is considered vital, especially as the team looks to stabilize its defense.

Despite these six players being ringfenced, the club is reportedly open to offers for virtually every other member of the squad. This includes high-profile names such as Christian Eriksen, Victor Lindelof, Casemiro, and Antony, who could all be sold in January according to TEAMtalk. The potential departure of these players reflects the club's willingness to make tough decisions to facilitate a squad overhaul.

Manchester United's current predicament is a stark contrast to the optimism that surrounded the club at the start of the season. Following Sir Jim Ratcliffe's takeover and an FA Cup final victory against Manchester City, expectations were high. However, a series of poor results led to Ten Hag's dismissal and the implementation of cost-cutting measures by Ratcliffe, leaving staff disgruntled.

Amorim's tenure began with a draw against Ipswich and victories over Bodo-Glimt and Everton, but subsequent defeats to Arsenal and Nottingham Forest have left the team eight points adrift of the Champions League places. These challenges highlight the urgency for change and the need for strategic player sales to fund new signings.
