Manager Pep Guardiola has acknowledged the precarious position his team finds itself in regarding the Premier League title race.
Following a disheartening 4-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, which marked their fifth consecutive loss across all competitions and third straight league defeat, Guardiola expressed concerns about the upcoming clash with Liverpool.
Speaking after the match, Guardiola suggested that a loss at Anfield could effectively end City's title aspirations. "If we lose to Liverpool, it might be too much to overcome," he admitted, highlighting the potential for Liverpool to extend their lead to eight points if they secure a victory against Southampton.
This scenario would leave City facing an 11-point deficit, a daunting challenge even at this stage of the season. Guardiola emphasized the importance of deserving success, stating, "If in the end we don’t win, it’s because we don’t deserve it. We won it in the past because we deserved it."
His comments reflect both a recognition of the team's current form and a call to action for improvement.
