Lekki Central Mosque Replaces "Jesus is not God" Banner with Another Banner After Backlash

The Lekki Central Mosque in Lagos has replaced its contentious banner declaring "Jesus Christ is not God" with another banner that has also drawn criticism.

The initial banner, which faced the main road at the mosque's gate, read: "Jesus Christ is not God! He is a prophet and messenger of God!" This message was met with backlash from the Christian community, who viewed it as disrespectful to their belief in the Trinity.

Following the uproar, the mosque removed the banner. However, a new banner has been erected in its place, which reads: "No deity is worthy of worship except Allah the Lord of Jesus Christ, Abraham, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, Muhammed, & all prophets."

This replacement has continued to stir controversy, with many Christians considering it equally disrespectful. A Muslim individual took to social media platform X to confirm the removal of the original banner and the installation of the new one.

The situation has led to mixed reactions across various communities, highlighting the sensitive nature of religious expressions in public spaces.
