Lekki Central Mosque Removes "Jesus Is Not God" Banner Following Public Outcry

The controversial banner proclaiming "Jesus Christ Is Not God" has been removed from the entrance of the Lekki Central Mosque.

This action comes after public backlash and an outcry from various community members.

The banner, which had been prominently displayed at the mosque's entrance, drew criticism for its provocative message.

Tunde Alabi, a member of the Lekki Muslim community, confirmed in a video statement on Wednesday night that the banner had been taken down. "The decision to remove the banner was made to maintain peace and harmony within our diverse community," Alabi stated.

The controversy surrounding the banner highlights the differing religious beliefs regarding Jesus Christ. In Islam, Jesus is revered as a prophet but not considered divine.

This belief is rooted in Islamic teachings that emphasize the absolute Unity and Indivisibility of God, as outlined in the Holy Qur'an (Qur'an 3:52).

Similarly, Judaism also denies the divinity of Jesus, rejecting the notion of him being part of a Trinity or a mediator to God.

The removal of the banner has been met with relief by many who viewed it as a potential source of religious tension.

A Twitter user, @Dannymasterp, expressed their opinion, stating, "Jesus is not God; of course, the evidence is very clear. It's just that the church specializes in celebrating his life."

This incident shows the importance of interfaith dialogue and understanding in a multicultural society like Nigeria.

The Lekki Central Mosque's decision to remove the banner reflects a commitment to fostering an environment of respect and coexistence among different religious communities.
