LaLiga: Mourinho Identify 3 Coaches Real Madrid Could Hire As Ancelotti's Successor

The future of Real Madrid's coaching position has been hot topic, with Carlo Ancelotti reportedly set to leave the club at the end of the 2023/24 season to take over as Brazil's national team coach in June 2024. This transition has sparked widespread speculation about who will succeed him at the helm of one of the world's most prestigious football clubs.

José Mourinho, a former Real Madrid manager and current Fenerbahce coach, has weighed in on the matter, suggesting three potential candidates who could replace Ancelotti.

Mourinho, known for his successful tenure at Real Madrid from 2010 to 2013, where he led the team to victories in La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup, remains a respected voice in football circles. Despite leaving the club over a decade ago, his connection with Real Madrid and its fans remains strong.

In a recent interview, Mourinho expressed his admiration for Real Madrid and discussed the possible successors to Ancelotti. He mentioned Xabi Alonso, Raúl González, and Álvaro Arbeloa as potential candidates.

"In the future, it will be up to the club to decide whether they prefer a young coach like Xabi Alonso or someone with experience like Ancelotti," Mourinho stated. "They could also consider promoting from within with Raúl or [Alvaro] Arbeloa."

Xabi Alonso, a former Real Madrid midfielder, is currently making waves as the head coach of Bayer Leverkusen. Under his leadership, the team reached the semi-finals of the Europa League and secured a strong position in the Bundesliga. His tactical acumen and deep understanding of the game make him a compelling choice for Real Madrid, especially given his history with the club.

Raúl González, another club legend, is currently working with Real Madrid's youth team, Castilla. His intimate knowledge of the club's culture and his promising coaching career make him a viable candidate. However, questions remain about whether he is ready to step onto the big stage and manage a team of Real Madrid's stature.

Álvaro Arbeloa, also a former Real Madrid player, has been involved with the club's youth setup. His familiarity with the club's ethos and his experience as a player could serve him well if he were to be considered for the top job.

Mourinho's comments come amid ongoing speculation about Ancelotti's future, with reports suggesting that the Italian coach has faced criticism for recent defeats in the Champions League and La Liga. Despite this, Ancelotti remains a highly regarded figure in the football world, and his departure will undoubtedly leave big shoes to fill.

Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez is known for making bold decisions, and the choice of Ancelotti's successor will be no exception. Pérez's track record suggests that he will carefully consider all options before making a decision that aligns with the club's ambitions and values.

As the football world waits with bated breath, the potential return of José Mourinho to Real Madrid has also been a topic of discussion. While Mourinho has expressed his support for Ancelotti, calling him "the best coach in the world," he did not dismiss the idea of returning to the Santiago Bernabéu. "The future depends on what the president wants," Mourinho said. "Whether it’s a young coach like Xabi [Alonso], someone experienced like Carlo, or someone from the youth setup, Florentino [Perez] will decide."

With Ancelotti's contract set to end in 2026, the timeline for his replacement remains uncertain. However, the anticipation surrounding this decision continues to build, with fans and pundits alike eager to see who will lead Real Madrid into its next chapter.
