Kaduna Refinery to be Completed by December 2024 - MD

The Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company (KRPC) is poised to complete its Quick Fix Project by the end of 2024.

This ambitious initiative aims to restore the refinery's production capacity to at least 60% of its 110,000 barrels-a-day potential.

The project, valued at $741 million, has been entrusted to South Korea's Daewoo Engineering & Construction, marking a pivotal step in Nigeria's industrial revitalization efforts.

Dr. Mustafa Sugungun, Managing Director of KRPC, emphasized the broader impact of this project, stating that it "will bring immense economic benefits, job opportunities, boost petty trading, and foster other local businesses."

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), KRPC has already made strides in community development, including the renovation of Rido Community Primary School and the installation of a solar-powered borehole, which are expected to improve living standards in the host communities.

Despite these promising developments, public sentiment remains mixed. Some community members express skepticism, recalling past unfulfilled promises regarding refinery operations. Comments from locals reflect a blend of hope and doubt, with one resident noting, "That's what you said last December... When the refineries in Warri and Port Harcourt aren't functioning, how will the one in Kaduna work?"
