President Joe Biden was seen wearing a red "Make America Great Again" (MAGA) cap, famously associated with his political rival, Donald Trump.
This happened during a visit to firefighters in Pennsylvania on Thursday, September 12, as part of the commemoration of the 23rd anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.
The event took an unexpected twist when Biden engaged in a friendly conversation with a Trump supporter.
In a light-hearted exchange, Biden offered the supporter a hat with the presidential seal, saying he would autograph it.
The supporter then requested Biden to sign it with his name, to which Biden humorously responded, “I don’t remember my name, I’m slow.”
Following this, Biden traded his autographed cap for the supporter’s MAGA hat, briefly wearing it and drawing cheers from the crowd.
This gesture quickly ignited a wave of reactions on social media.
Trump's campaign team even thanked Biden for the "support." However, the White House clarified that Biden's action was intended to promote unity.
Deputy White House Press Secretary, Andrew Bates, stated, “As a gesture, he gave a hat to a Trump supporter who then said that in the same spirit, POTUS should put on his Trump cap.”
