Jesse Lingard Admits Ignorance of Local Laws, Warns Others to Follow Safety Measures After Police Probe in South Korea

Former Manchester United player now with FC Seoul, Jesse Lingard has broken his silence following a police investigation into his use of an e-scooter in South Korea. The probe was reportedly launched after Lingard posted a video on social media, which he later deleted, showing him riding an electric scooter without wearing a helmet—a violation of local laws.

Lingard, 31, admitted his ignorance of the rules, stating, "I didn’t know the rules of wearing a helmet or having a license as well." In South Korea, riding an e-scooter without a license can result in a fine of 10,000 won (£56.85), while not wearing a helmet incurs a fine of 20,000 won (£11.47).

The footballer, who joined FC Seoul in February after leaving Nottingham Forest as a free agent in 2023, took to Instagram to apologize and warn others. He said, "To anyone visiting South Korea, obviously, you’ve got to check the rules. It can be dangerous. Safety first for everyone. Helmets on and obviously, I won’t do that again."
