Jailed Rapper Tory Lanez Fires Back at Megan Thee Stallion for Filing Restraining Order

The ongoing legal saga between rapper Tory Lanez and Megan Thee Stallion has taken another contentious step. On December 18, 2024, Megan Thee Stallion filed a petition for a restraining order against Tory Lanez, who is currently serving a 10-year prison sentence for shooting her in the foot during an altercation in July 2020.

This incident occurred after a party hosted by Kylie Jenner in the Hollywood Hills, where tensions escalated, leading to the violent encounter.

Megan, whose real name is Megan Pete, alleges that despite being incarcerated, Lanez, born Daystar Peterson, continues to harass her from behind bars. According to court documents filed in Los Angeles, Megan accuses Lanez of orchestrating a campaign of harassment through third-party surrogates, subjecting her to "repeated trauma and re-victimization."

She claims that Lanez has been coordinating attacks on her credibility, with multiple bloggers allegedly acting on his behalf to spread false information about the case. This includes claims that the gun used in the shooting and bullet fragments are missing, which Megan's legal team vehemently denies.

The restraining order petition highlights the expiration of a previous protective order, suggesting it has left Megan vulnerable to further harassment. Her lawyers argue that the only recourse now is to seek a civil harassment restraining order to end Lanez's ongoing campaign of intimidation. A court hearing on the matter is scheduled for January 9, 2025.

Lanez's legal team, however, dismisses these allegations as "ridiculous," maintaining that the truth will be revealed in court. They argue that any payments made to bloggers were unrelated to Lanez or his case, and they continue to assert his innocence regarding the shooting. In a statement, Lanez's lawyers said, "We believe the truth will come out, and Mr. Peterson will be vindicated."

This latest development comes after a tumultuous legal battle that began in 2020 when Megan accused Lanez of shooting her following an argument. The trial, which concluded in December 2022, saw Lanez convicted of three felonies: assault with a semiautomatic firearm, carrying a concealed gun in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence.

Despite the conviction, Lanez has consistently maintained his innocence, claiming he was wrongfully convicted. In an Instagram post shortly after his sentencing, Lanez wrote, "I refuse to apologize for something I did not do."

The case has divided the hip-hop community, with various artists taking sides. Notably, rapper 50 Cent apologized for previously suggesting that Megan had lied about the shooting, acknowledging the impact of online speculation on her peace of mind.

Megan herself has spoken out about the ordeal, describing it as a victory for women who have been shamed and dismissed for crimes committed against them. In an op-ed for Elle, she wrote, "As I reflect on the past three years, I view myself as a survivor because I have truly survived the unimaginable."

In the meantime, Megan remains steadfast in her pursuit of justice, determined to protect herself from further harm. Her legal team is prepared to present evidence supporting her claims, including prison call logs that allegedly show Lanez's involvement in the harassment campaign. They hope that the restraining order will provide Megan with the peace and security she deserves as she continues to navigate the aftermath of the traumatic event.

For Lanez, the upcoming hearing represents another opportunity to challenge the accusations against him and assert his innocence. His legal team is expected to vigorously contest the restraining order, arguing that the claims are unfounded and part of a broader effort to tarnish his reputation.
