It’s Not Easy to Survive in Nigeria – Tiwa Savage Says [Video]

Afrobeats singer Tiwa Savage has shared her insights on the challenges of living in Nigeria during an appearance on the 'Shopping The Sneakers' podcast. She attributed the burgeoning number of entertainers emerging from the country to the "harsh realities of poverty."

According to Savage, the difficult living conditions in Nigeria have driven many young people to explore and develop their creative talents as a means of survival.

She remarked, "When you come to Nigeria, you will understand why we breed so many superstars. To survive in Nigeria is something else so that’s why the artists that come out of Nigeria are just like hustlers. They are just hustling."

Savage's comments highlight the resilience and determination of Nigerian youths who navigate the country's economic hardships by channeling their energy into the arts. This phenomenon has contributed to Nigeria's reputation for having Africa's largest movie, music, comedy, and fashion industries, with Nollywood being recognized as the second-largest film industry globally.
