Investigative Journalist Fisayo Soyombo Arrested Alongside Oil Theft Suspects - Nigerian Army

The Nigerian Army has confirmed the arrest of investigative journalist Fisayo Soyombo in connection with oil theft activities in the Niger Delta.

This arrest comes as part of the Army's intensified operations against illegal oil bunkering and pipeline vandalism in the region, which are critical issues affecting Nigeria's oil and gas production.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Danjuma Jonah Danjuma, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for the 6 Division, "Fisayo Soyombo was one of those arrested among those involved in oil theft."

The operation, based on intelligence reports, targeted a notorious gang known for pipeline vandalism and illegal oil connections.

During this operation, multiple arrests were made at an illegal bunkering site, including that of Soyombo.

The Army has emphasized the importance of media accuracy in reporting such incidents, urging outlets to verify their information before publication. "It is important for media outlets to ensure the veracity of their information before they place them in the public domain," Danjuma stated, highlighting the Army's commitment to curbing criminal activities that threaten the nation's economic stability.
