Instagram Introduces 'Trial Reels' Feature for Creators to Test Content with Non-Followers

Instagram has unveiled a new feature called 'trial reels,' designed to allow creators to experiment with their content by sharing it with non-followers. This innovative approach aims to help creators gauge audience reactions before deciding whether to share the content with their existing followers.

The 'trial reels' feature is set to roll out globally and will be available to all eligible creators in the coming weeks. According to Instagram, this feature enables creators to test new ideas without the risk of alienating their established audience.

"We often hear from creators that they feel nervous about posting too much to their audience or trying out new content that’s outside of their niche on Instagram," the company stated in an announcement. "Now, if you want to try out a new genre, storytelling format or topic, you can easily get a gut check on how your content might perform."

Creators can activate the 'trial' option before publishing a reel, which will then be shown to a random audience of non-followers. The engagement data, including views, likes, comments, and shares, will be provided approximately 24 hours after publishing. This feedback will help creators decide whether to share the reel with their followers or let Instagram automatically share it based on its performance within the first 72 hours.

This feature is part of Instagram's broader strategy to support creators in expanding their reach and experimenting with diverse content styles. By allowing creators to test content with non-followers, Instagram hopes to foster creativity and innovation on the platform.
