Nigerian international striker currently on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli, Victor Osimhen is facing a challenging period as he is set to be sidelined due to a hamstring injury.
This setback occurred during Galatasaray's recent 3-2 victory over Sivasspor in the Turkish Super Lig, where Osimhen played a pivotal role by scoring his 10th league goal of the season before being forced off the field in the 74th minute. His departure from the match was necessitated by the injury, and he was subsequently replaced by Michy Batshuayi.
The injury has been confirmed by Galatasaray through an official statement, which detailed that Osimhen underwent an MRI examination revealing a moderate strain and bleeding in the right posterior upper muscle group.
The club has initiated treatment for the Nigerian star, although no specific recovery timeline has been provided. However, reports suggest that Osimhen could be out of action until late December, potentially missing several crucial matches for Galatasaray.
Osimhen's absence is a massive blow to Galatasaray, as he has been a reliable asset since joining the club on a season-long loan deal from Napoli. His impressive performances have not only contributed to Galatasaray's success but have also sparked transfer speculation, with rumors suggesting that he might leave the club in the January transfer window.
However, Galatasaray's vice-president, İbrahim Hatipoğlu, has dismissed these speculations, stating that "Osimhen leaving in January is out of the question."
The 25-year-old striker has been a standout performer in the Turkish Super Lig, earning praise from Galatasaray coach Okan Buruk, who claimed that Osimhen is currently the best striker in Europe, even surpassing Manchester City's Erling Haaland.
