Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has expressed his belief that the team's lack of experience is a massive barrier to winning the Premier League title this season.
Despite Chelsea's impressive 3-0 victory over Aston Villa, which saw them level on 25 points with second-placed Arsenal, Maresca remains cautious about their title prospects.
He emphasized that while the young squad is performing well, they are still behind clubs like Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester City in terms of experience in high-pressure matches and title campaigns.
Maresca stated, "These kind of players, some of them, in their life, in their experience, they have probably played one final. So you need to live moments to get better and when we start to get those moments, we will get better and we can compete."
He acknowledged that Chelsea is making progress but insisted, "We are going to be there soon, but this is one of the reasons that we are still far and not ready to compete with those clubs."
The match against Aston Villa showcased Chelsea's potential, with goals from Nicolas Jackson, Enzo Fernandez, and Cole Palmer. However, Maresca highlighted the importance of gaining more experience in crucial games to truly challenge for the title.
