'I Worked Hard, It Wasn't a Pity Victory' - Chidimma Adetshina Defends Miss Universe Nigeria Win [VIDEO]

Chidimma Adetshina, the newly-crowned Miss Universe Nigeria, addressed the criticisms surrounding her victory.

Adetshina firmly stated that her win was not a result of pity but a testament to her hard work and dedication. "A lot of people felt like it was a pity win. I don’t think so. I feel like I really worked so hard, coming from the South Africa journey," Adetshina said.

She emphasized that despite the unique challenges she faced, her experience was as rigorous as that of other contestants. "We spent like 10 weeks in camp, going through the whole journey.

It might have been a slight difference compared to everybody else, but if you have to look at the journey that we have all been through, I feel like I really had the same experience with other contestants."

Adetshina's path to the crown has been fraught with controversy. She was forced to withdraw from South Africa’s beauty pageant in August 2024 due to allegations of fraud and identity theft involving her mother.

This incident led to xenophobic backlash and rejection over her nationality. Despite these setbacks, Adetshina accepted an invitation to join the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant, where she ultimately triumphed.

Reflecting on her journey, Adetshina noted, "The journey might have been slightly different compared to everyone else, but looking back, I feel I had the same experience as the other ladies."
