British-Nigerian professional footballer Alex Iwobi, currently playing as a midfielder for Fulham and the Nigeria national team, is making waves both on and off the field.
Born on May 3, 1996, Iwobi has had a notable career in football, beginning with Arsenal where he made 149 appearances and scored fifteen goals. Recently, he signed a five-year contract with Fulham F.C., valued at $20,800,000, which includes an average annual salary of $4,160,000.
Beyond his football career, Iwobi is also venturing into music, aiming to inspire young people through this new avenue. Earlier this year, he launched his rap career and has since released two singles.
His debut track, "Don't Shoot," was released in June and has been streamed nearly 60,000 times on Spotify. His latest single, "What's Luv?," features collaborations with his friend SPKS and up-and-coming artist MBrown.
Iwobi, who performs under the name '17', uses his music to encourage youth to pursue their dreams and focus on positive endeavors. He stated, "I hope that my music is another way of proving that young people do not have to feel they have to fit in just one box. I want them to be encouraged to achieve their dreams, to put their focus into positive things."
Iwobi's commitment to inspiring the next generation extends beyond music. He actively participates in initiatives like Premier League Kicks sessions, which aim to engage young people in sports. Despite his musical pursuits, Iwobi remains dedicated to his football career, having started all nine Premier League matches for Fulham this season and scoring twice, including a goal in a recent 1-1 draw against his former club Everton.
He emphasizes that creating music does not detract from his football, but rather helps him unwind, stating, "Creating music doesn't take anything away from my football, it helps me switch off. I will always work hard and try to improve in my sport, but this is a good use of my spare time."
