An American woman has shared her experience of falling victim to a romance scam orchestrated by two Nigerian internet fraudsters, often referred to as "Yahoo boys."
Despite the financial and emotional toll of these scams, she maintains a positive view of Nigerian men, describing them as "the sexiest and most handsome men on this planet."
The woman's story began in 2020 when she met one of the scammers on TikTok. She recounted how the scammer, who initially posed as a love interest, inadvertently revealed his true identity by mistakenly calling her from a Nigerian phone number.
This revelation led to the discovery that he was planning to marry his Nigerian girlfriend. Reflecting on this, she expressed no ill will, saying, “May God bless them and hopefully they have a long life together.”
Her second encounter with a scammer was somewhat different. This individual was more considerate and eventually confessed that he was a young Nigerian trying to fund his education and care for his sick mother. The woman noted, “That one doesn’t hurt me much because I know that the money went for good.”
