I Had to Delete My X Page to Preserve My Sanity and Mental Health - Chidinma Adetshina

The newly-crowned Miss Universe Nigeria, Chidinma Adetshina, has disclosed that she deleted her X page to protect her mental health.

The 23-year-old beauty queen faced backlash during her participation in the Miss South Africa contest, which was further intensified by allegations from the South Africa Department of Home Affairs (DHA) accusing her mother of fraud and identity theft.

Speaking to Arise 360, Adetshina explained the overwhelming impact of the negative feedback she received on social media. "I had to delete it because I felt like it was too much for me. I’m a comment reader so I read each and every comment; that’s the thing. So for me, I could spend 80% of my day reading comments," she shared. "I’d read the comments and all and it became toxic for me."

Adetshina emphasized that removing the app provided her with much-needed relief. She also mentioned that while she continues to use Instagram, she has limited her comment section to avoid similar negativity.

Despite the challenges, Adetshina expressed gratitude for the support she has received from her fans. "I want to thank everyone who stood by me during this tough time," she said.
