‘I Didn’t Expect That’ – Guardiola Slams Liverpool Fans Demanding For His Dismissal

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola during a recent match at Anfield was taken aback by chants from Liverpool fans calling for his dismissal. As the Reds secured a 2-0 victory over City, the home supporters began chanting "You're getting sacked in the morning" in the 89th minute.

Despite the taunts, Guardiola responded with humor, smiling and holding up six fingers to signify the number of Premier League titles he has won with City.

In an interview with Sky Sports after the game, Guardiola expressed his surprise at the reaction from Liverpool fans, stating, "I didn't expect that at Anfield. I didn't expect it from the people from Liverpool but it's fine, it's part of the game, and I understand completely. We've had incredible battles together. I have a respect for them."

The defeat marked a continuation of a difficult period for Manchester City, who have now lost six of their last seven games across all competitions. This poor run of form has left them 11 points behind league leaders Arne Slot's Liverpool.

Reflecting on the match, Guardiola acknowledged Liverpool's strong performance, particularly in the first 15-20 minutes, and admitted that his team struggled to control the game.

Despite the challenging circumstances, Guardiola maintained a sense of humor about the situation, jokingly remarking, "All the stadiums want to sack me, it started at Brighton! Maybe they are right with the results we've been having."
