Nigerian singer Raoul John Njeng-Njeng, popularly known as Skales, made a surprising revelation about his contributions to fellow artist Wizkid's early music career.
Both artists were among the first to be signed by R&B star and music executive Banky W to Empire Mates Entertainment (EME) in the early 2010s.
Skales claimed that he co-wrote several hit songs for Wizkid during their time at EME. Specifically, he mentioned his involvement in Wizkid's debut album, 'Super Star,' including the bonus track "Wiz Party." In his words, “I wrote songs for Wizkid. He also wrote songs for me, too.”
This collaborative spirit was a hallmark of their time at EME, where teamwork was emphasized. Skales added, “He wrote ‘Mukulu’ for me and I wrote his song ‘Wiz Party.’ As I said, EME was a collective, so we did teamwork.”
The record label played a crucial role in catapulting both artists to fame. However, their journey with EME was not without its challenges. Both Skales and Wizkid eventually left the label following disagreements with Banky W.
In a previous interview with Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Banky W disclosed that Wizkid was contractually obligated to release three albums under EME, a commitment that became a point of contention.
