Selena Gomez has shared that she is unable to carry her own children due to serious medical conditions.
The 32-year-old actress and singer opened up about this in an exclusive interview with Vanity Fair, which was highlighted on Linda Ikeji's Blog on September 9th, 2024. "I haven't said this before but I unfortunately can't carry my own children," Gomez disclosed.
She explained that her health issues, including lupus diagnosed in 2013 and a kidney transplant in 2017, make pregnancy life-threatening for both her and the baby. "I unfortunately … have a lot of medical issues that would put my life and the baby’s in jeopardy," she said.
This revelation marks the first time Gomez has publicly discussed this aspect of her health struggles. She admitted that coming to terms with this reality was a difficult process. "That was something I had to grieve for a while," she confessed.
Despite this heartbreaking news, Gomez remains hopeful and determined to become a mother through other means. She expressed gratitude for the options available to her, such as surrogacy and adoption. "It’s not necessarily the way I envisioned it," she said, "but I’m in a much better place with that. I find it a blessing that there are wonderful people willing to do surrogacy or adoption, which are both huge possibilities for me
