Nigerian sprinter Favour Ofili has expressed pride in her performance at the 2024 Olympic Games held in Paris, France, despite not achieving a podium finish.

The 21-year-old athlete faced massive challenges, including being excluded from the women's 100m event due to an administrative error by the Nigerian team. This exclusion was a major setback, as it prevented her from competing in one of her key events.
Ofili's journey at the Olympics was marked by resilience and determination. She competed in the women's 200m final, where she finished sixth.
Reflecting on her experience, Ofili stated, "Competing in the Olympics has been the dream of a lifetime. The outcome of this Olympic wasn’t what I hoped for—having to fight with myself every day to be strong mentally even when my body and health were at stake due to the challenges I faced."
Despite the disappointment, she emphasized the importance of mental strength and perseverance, adding, "It’s easy to feel defeated, but every setback is a setup for a comeback. I’m proud of myself; the whole thing made me realise how strong I am, and I am grateful for the support I got from my coach, family, and fans."

In addition to her individual performance, Ofili contributed to Nigeria's relay team, helping them achieve a season-best time of 42.70 seconds in the 4×100 m relay, with her split time being an impressive 10.09 seconds.
Her efforts and positive outlook have been a source of inspiration, as she concluded, "Trusting God’s plan and ways is the only way to heal, because I know his plans for me are to give me hope and a future.
Thank you, Paris, for yet another lesson, and thank you to everyone who has been with me along the way—this isn’t the lesson, it’s just another step in the story."
