I am not the PR for Nigeria - Kemi Badenoch tell VP Kashim Shettima

Kemi Badenoch, the leader of the Conservative Party in the United Kingdom, has firmly stated her position regarding comments made by Nigeria's Vice President, Kashim Shettima.

The Vice President had criticized Badenoch for allegedly disparaging Nigeria, suggesting she could "remove the Kemi from her name" if she was not proud of her Nigerian heritage. During an event in Abuja, VP Shettima remarked, “She is entitled to her own opinions.

She has even every right to remove the Kemi from her name, but that does not show the fact that the greatest black nation on earth is the nation called Nigeria,” drawing applause from the audience.

In response, Badenoch, who is of Nigerian descent, reiterated her stance, emphasizing her role as a leader in the UK rather than a public relations figure for Nigeria. "I tell the truth. I tell it like it is. I am not going to couch my words. I am the leader of the opposition, and I am very proud of my leadership of the opposition in this country. I am not the PR for Nigeria," she told reporters.
