Legendary heavyweight boxer Mike Tyson has disclosed a harrowing health ordeal that nearly cost him his life before his much-anticipated fight against YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul.

The bout, initially scheduled for July 20, was postponed after Tyson suffered a severe ulcer flare-up in June, leading to serious blood loss.

Tyson, 58, recounted the experience, stating, "I almost died in June. Had eight blood transfusions. Lost half my blood and 25lbs in hospital and had to fight to get healthy to fight so I won." Despite these challenges, Tyson managed to recover and step into the ring on November 15 at the Dallas Cowboy stadium.

The fight concluded with a unanimous decision in favor of the 27-year-old Paul. However, Tyson expressed gratitude for the opportunity to compete, saying, "To have my children see me stand toe to toe and finish eight rounds with a talented fighter half my age in front of a packed Dallas Cowboy stadium is an experience that no man has the right to ask for."

Paul faced criticism for engaging in the match against the aging former champion but was also commended for his restraint during the fight. He remarked, "I wanted to give the fans a show. But I didn’t want to hurt someone that didn’t need to be hurt."
