The Federal Capital Territory High Court has ordered the remand of former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, in Kuje Correctional Centre.
This decision comes as part of an ongoing N110 billion money laundering case brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The court's ruling, delivered on Tuesday, means that Bello will remain in custody pending the hearing of his bail application. Justice Maryann Anenih has scheduled further hearings for January 29-30 and February 25-27, 2025.
Reacting to the court's decision, former lawmaker Senator Dino Melaye expressed his satisfaction.
Melaye, who has been a vocal critic of Bello, took to his official X handle to share his thoughts. "Six years ago, SDM predicted Yahaya Bello would end up in prison," he stated."Today, he will be spending Christmas in Kuje prison. All powers belong to God."
