Gunshots were fired at the campaign office of U.S. Presidential nominee Kamala Harris in a Phoenix suburb. The attack, which occurred just days before Harris was scheduled to visit the state, resulted in significant damage but fortunately no injuries.
The incident took place after midnight on Monday, with several bullets hitting the building and windows. This marks the second shooting at the same location within two weeks. According to local reports, a similar attack involving a pellet or BB gun occurred on September 16.
Sean McEnerney, the Arizona Democratic Party's coordinated campaign manager, expressed gratitude for the swift response from Tempe Police. "We are grateful to Tempe Police for coming quickly to the scene and are fortunate no one was present or injured," McEnerney said in a statement.
The shooting comes on the heels of another violent episode targeting a political figure. On September 15, there was an attempt on U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump's life at his West Palm Beach golf course.
Tempe police are currently investigating the incident, which underscores the growing security challenges as the election approaches. The recent spate of violence against political figures has heightened concerns about the safety of candidates and their teams.
This news has sparked various reactions online, with some commenters suggesting political motives behind the attacks.
One user remarked, "Election campaigns and strategies, thank God no one was hurt though," while another speculated, "It's now time for everyone to start using the assassination attempt to get popular."
