Gunshots as Protesters Lit Bonfire In Front Of Kano Govt House, Wave Saudi Flag

The demonstrators, primarily youths from various parts of the city, gathered to voice their discontent over the prevailing economic hardships in Nigeria. This protest was part of a larger nationwide movement known as #EndBadGovernance, which aims to address critical issues such as soaring food inflation and general economic instability.

As the crowd awaited an address from Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, tensions escalated. Some protesters began assembling tyres and setting them ablaze, creating a bonfire near the gate of the Government House.

This act of defiance prompted a swift response from the security forces stationed at the site. In an attempt to disperse the growing crowd, police fired gunshots and teargas into the air, leading to chaos and panic among the demonstrators.

The sudden escalation resulted in injuries.

The protest in Kano is a stark reflection of the broader discontent sweeping across Nigeria, where citizens are increasingly frustrated with the government's handling of economic issues.
