Gov Yusuf Dismisses Key Officials, Reassigns Deputy

Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has announced a major reshuffle of his cabinet, marking a pivotal moment in his administration.

The announcement was made through a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa, on Thursday.

The reshuffle sees the removal of key figures within the state government, including the Chief of Staff, Alhaji Shehu Wada Sagagi, whose office has been scrapped, and the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Abdullahi Baffa Bichi, who was relieved of his duties due to health reasons. This move is part of what Governor Yusuf describes as a "pragmatic political realignment" aimed at enhancing administrative performance and delivering more democratic dividends to the people of Kano State.

Governor Yusuf stated, "The much-awaited decision finally came to enable optimum performance that will drive more dividends of democracy to the good people of Kano state."

In addition to these changes, several other cabinet members have been reassigned to different roles. Notably, Deputy Governor Comrade Aminu Abdulssalam has been moved from the Ministry of Local Government to Higher Education. Other reassignments include Hon. Mohammad Tajo Usman, who transitions from Science and Technology to the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, and Dr. Yusuf Ibrahim Kofar Mata, who moves from Higher Education to Science, Technology and Innovation.

The reshuffle also affects various commissioners, with some retaining their positions while others are reassigned. Those who retained their roles include Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice Barr. Haruna Isa Dederi, Commissioner for Agriculture Dr. Danjuma Mahmoud, and Commissioner for Health Dr. Abubakar Labaran, among others.

Meanwhile, five members of the cabinet have been dropped, including Ibrahim Jibril Fagge of the Finance Ministry and Ladidi Ibrahim Garko of Culture and Tourism. Governor Yusuf has directed the former Chief of Staff and the dropped commissioners to report to his office for possible reassignment.

This cabinet shake-up underscores Governor Yusuf's commitment to restructuring his administration to better serve the state's needs and address pressing challenges. The changes take immediate effect, signaling a new phase in Kano State's governance.
