Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has officially signed the 2025 budget into law, marking a significant step in the state's developmental agenda.
The budget, aptly titled "Sustaining Transformation and Inclusive Development," totals N790.4 billion, with a strong emphasis on capital expenditure.
The budget allocates N551.6 billion to capital projects, while N238.9 billion is designated for recurrent expenses.
This strategic allocation shows the administration's commitment to infrastructure development and economic growth.
Governor Sani praised the Kaduna State House of Assembly for their swift passage of the budget, which occurred just ten days after the draft was presented.
He highlighted the thoroughness of the budget defense process, stating, "Here in Kaduna State, I can say without fear of contradiction that we have the best House of Assembly in the country."
The governor commended the collaborative efforts between the executive and legislative branches, noting that despite political differences, members focused on governance over politics. "For me, this is highly commendable," he added.
Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Yusuf Liman, described the signing as an important milestone. He lauded the governor's dedication to completing abandoned projects and initiating new ones, particularly in rural development.
Liman emphasized the administration's focus on human capital development and agriculture, noting an increase in the agriculture allocation from 7% to 9.5% in 2025.
"Agriculture contributes 42% to the state's GDP, and we are confident this will grow further in the coming year," Liman stated, reflecting optimism about the sector's potential to drive economic growth.
