Gov Otti Approves N250,000 Monthly Allowance for Traditional Rulers in Abia

Governor Alex Otti has approved a monthly stipend of N250,000 for the state's traditional rulers.

This initiative, set to commence in December 2024, shows the governor's commitment to fostering respect and collaboration with the traditional leadership.

The announcement was made by Eze Linus Nto Mba, Chairman of the Abia State Council of Traditional Rulers, who expressed profound gratitude on behalf of the council.

"The Council expresses gratitude that the Governor would from this month of December 2024 begin to pay two hundred and fifty thousand Naira (N250,000) monthly stipend to every Eze in Abia state, except the traditional rulers in Aba South, who would receive an amount different from others," said Eze Mba.

This new stipend is distinct from the N150,000 Christmas package recently approved for over 500 traditional rulers, further highlighting Governor Otti's dedication to supporting the cultural custodians of the state.

Eze Mba noted the positive relationship between the traditional institution and the current administration, contrasting it with previous governments that did not extend similar respect to the monarchs.

In addition to financial support, the traditional rulers have pledged their continued cooperation with the government in efforts to eradicate criminal elements and ensure peace and security across various communities.

"We promise to support the Governor in eradicating criminal elements from various communities for peace and security to reign supreme," Eze Mba affirmed.
