'God Delayed My Success For A Purpose' – Tiwa Savage [Video]

Celebrated Nigerian singer and songwriter, Tiwa Savage recently opened up about the divine reasons behind the delay in her career breakthrough. In a candid discussion on The Receipts podcast, the 44-year-old artist shared her belief that God intentionally postponed her success to serve a greater purpose.

She explained, "I feel like God has done this on purpose. God delayed my success for a purpose. I used to be like, why wasn’t I successful in my twenties? I started succeeding in my thirties."

Savage emphasized that her journey is meant to inspire other women who might feel apprehensive about achieving success later in life. She stated, "It’s to bless other people. It’s to bless that 25-year-old girl who’s scared about what the future holds. If she opens my page and sees that I started in my thirties, she would be like, ‘I still have time.’"

Her story resonates with many, as it highlights the notion that success can come at any age and that it's never too late to pursue one's dreams. Tiwa Savage's rise to fame began with her debut single "Kele Kele" in 2010, followed by her 2013 album "Once Upon a Time," which solidified her status as a leading voice in Nigerian music.

In addition to her musical achievements, Savage has also contributed to the global music scene by writing songs for international artists such as Beyoncé, Babyface, and Fantasia. Her journey from backup vocalist for legends like George Michael to a celebrated solo artist serves as a testament to her talent and perseverance.
