Seven-time Formula One World Champion, Lewis Hamilton has recently opened up about his lifelong battle with depression, which began during his teenage years.

In an interview published recently, Hamilton revealed that he started struggling with mental health issues as early as age 13. He attributed much of his early struggles to the pressures of racing and the bullying he faced at school. "I had no one to talk to," Hamilton shared, reflecting on his challenging journey.

Hamilton's career in motorsport began at a very young age. By the time he was six, he was already racing competitively, and his talent quickly became evident. Despite his success on the track, Hamilton faced massive personal challenges.

"I've struggled with mental health through my life, depression from a very early age when I was, like, 13... when I was in my twenties I had some really difficult phases," he admitted.

The British driver made his Formula 1 debut in 2007 at the age of 21, becoming the first Black driver in the series. His remarkable talent led him to win the championship the following year. Over the years, Hamilton has matched Michael Schumacher's record of seven championships and has become one of the most successful drivers in the history of the sport.

Despite his achievements, Hamilton's journey has not been without its difficulties. He has found it challenging to open up about his mental health struggles but has tried various methods to cope, including silent retreats and therapy. "You're learning about things that have been passed down to you from your parents, noticing those patterns, how you react to things, how you can change those," he explained. "So what might have angered me in the past doesn't anger me today. I am so much more refined."
